The first official trailer for Warner Bros DC Studios Supergirl has finally arrived and it looks nothing like the 1984 movie of the same name.
Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El in Supergirl who made a brief cameo as Supergirl at the end of James Gunn’s Superman when she stumbled into the Man of Steel’s fortress of solitude.
This first teaser trailer has definite vibes of Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies. The movie is based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Craig Gillespie is the director of Supergirl who was excited about creating something different with this incarnation of Superman’s cousin, saying.
“This is really an anti-hero story. What I loved about the script that Ana [Nogueira] wrote and what [James and Peter] were supporting is, she’s got a lot of baggage and a lot of demons coming into this, which is very different in where Superman is in his life. And having Milly be able to come in and play that, and all the complexity of that, and do it in a very human way, we can actually have empathy for her and the dance of the humor, and somebody that has that toughness was such a gift to get. And I’m excited for everyone to see that because it’s really surprising the headspace that she’s in.”
Supergirl hits theaters on June 26, 2026.
Starring: Milly Alcock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa.
