I came across a script written as an alternate scene for the 2009 reboot of Star Trek. This alternate scene was never filmed, but does show the writers at one time had given some thought of how they could bring William Shatner into the film for a cameo appearance.

The scene below, written over 3 1/2 pages, picks up at the end of the conversation between Spock (Zachary Quinto) and Spock Prime (Leonard Nimoy) in the shuttle hangar.

By the end of the alternate scene Spock (Zachary Quinto) begins to realize what Spock Prime means by a friendship that will define them both.
