Some of you may or may not be aware of an independent group that is making a documentary style film called “Star Trek Axanar”. If you heard of it then this is no surprise, but if you haven’t your in for a treat.
This independent group debuted a short teaser film called “Prelude to Axanar” in San Diego the same week Comic Con was happening as a tease for the full length film due out sometime in the summer of 2015.
The “Prelude to Axanar” short can now be viewed on line either on You Tube or by going to their website directly. The teaser film is only about twenty-one minutes in length. Long enough to get you hooked and defiantly wanting more if your any kind of Star Trek fan.
I have provided a link to their website below where you can watch the twenty-one minute film.

If the full-length film is going to be anything like this short teaser film, then it will be well worth watching. You may recognize some of the actors’ involved, some of which have appeared on various Star Trek series.
The cast and crew that includes Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica 1978 & 2004), Tony Todd (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Spance Nine), Kate Vernon (Battlestar Galactica 2004), JG Hertzler (General Martok, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), and Gary Graham (reprising his role as Vulcan ambassador Soval (Star Trek: Enterprise).
At this time I do not know how widely their full-length film will be distributed or exactly where will be able to see it when it is released. Hopefully it won’t be difficult to find a theater that’s showing it as it looks well worth your time.
The Story of Star Trek: Axanar:
“Axanar” takes place 21 years before the events of “Where no Man Has Gone Before”, the first Kirk episode of the original Star Trek. Axanar is the story of Garth of Izar, the legendary Starfleet captain who is Captain Kirk’s hero. Kirk himself called Garth the model for all future Starfleet Officers. Garth charted more planets than any other Captain and was the hero of the Battle of Axanar, the story of which is required reading at the academy. This is that story.
“Axanar” tells the story of Garth and his crew during the Four Years War, the war with the Klingon Empire that almost tore the Federation apart. Garth’s victory at Axanar solidified the Federation and allowed it to become the entity we know in Kirk’s time.
Axanar will be the first non-CBS/Paramount produced Star Trek to look and feel like a true Star Trek movie.
Let us know here at Reggie’s Take what you thought of the teaser film and after watching it would you be willing to see the full length film? Would love to know your thoughts.
