Warner Brothers has released the first trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, the grand finale of the saga.
This third installment is based on Frank Herbert’s novel, Dune Messiah. Villeneuve explained that the strong response to 2024’s Dune 2 motivated him to accelerate work on the final chapter.
According to Villeneuve, Part Three occurs 17 years after the events of Dune: Part Two. He describes it as a distinctly different film with a unique tone, rhythm, and pace featuring more action and tension than the previous movies. The story, like Dune Messiah, offers fresh perspectives on Paul Atreides, showing him grappling with the consequences of absolute power and trying to escape a cycle of violence. Now an emperor who can foresee the future, Paul appears nearly unstoppable.
The third film will also introduce new regions on the familiar planet and explore entirely new worlds. Jason Momoa returns as Duncan Idaho, even after his character’s death defending Paul and Jessica in the first movie. Additionally, Hans Zimmer is back to compose the score for the film.
Dune: Part Three stars: Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach De Bankolé, with Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, Javier Bardem, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke.
