New Guardians of the Galaxy Images/Trailer

Marvel has released a new, extended Guardians of the Galaxy trailer. Set to the song “Cherry Bomb”, the trailer offers a first look at Michael Rooker as Yondu.

The galaxies most unlikely superheroes starring, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper team up to protect a powerful and mysterious orb from the villainous Ronan the Accuser.

For those out there who may not be familiar with the character Yondu, here is some information about his character from the comics.

Yondu possesses an intuitive mystical “sixth sense” perception that permits him limited empathic relationships with other life forms. The higher the life form, the more limited is his empathic potential. Additionally, Yondu possesses an intuitive and rather mystical rapport with nature, particularly with his own world, but also with any world that still possesses natural wildlife.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” hits theaters August 1, 2014.

Synopsis:
When brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits – Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer.

But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
