Marvel who published the very first Star Wars comic-book series after the release of the original Star Wars movie in 1977 will be re-releasing those adventures in its over sized Omnibus format.
The omnibus will be printed under the Star Wars Legends line, meaning the stories included are no longer part of the official Disney/Lucasfilm canon.
The adventures begin with Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and ends with Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. During that time you can see the Rebels face a wealth of new perils from space pirate Crimson Jack to the bounty hunter Beilert Valance. Luke goes back to Tatooine, Han and Chewie play the deadly Big Game, and Darth Vader hunts for answers!
The first run of Star Wars comics features work from, Roy Thomas, Archie Goodwin, Chris Claremont, Jo Duffy, Carmine Infantino, Walt Simonson, Howard Chaykin who also did the cover for the collection.
The rights to the Star Wars comics reverted back to Marvel Comics after being with Dark Horse for almost 30 years. Marvel’s corporate owners, Disney, bought Lucasfilm from George Lucas and the rights to Star Wars back in October of 2012.
Plans for the new Star Wars comics have not yet been announced by Marvel. Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years comes out in January of 2015
