Some reports have come out about the possible back story of Ben Affleck’s version of an older Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman v Superman currently filming in Detroit.
Were familiar with Christopher Nolan’s version of how Bruce Wayne became Batman in his Dark Knight trilogy. In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Affleck’s, Batman will be a closer representation to the comics, from what it sounds like to me, then what has ever been on the big screen before.
According to the website Badass Digest, Batman has been around for nearly thirty years, placing Bruce Wayne in his 50s. This version of Batman is still an urban legend, a creature of the night, and no one has ever been able to take his picture, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had plenty of adventures. The Batcave also includes a memorial centered around a tattered Robin costume.
If all of the back-story rumors are accurate this version of Batman could be the most interesting film version to date, Affleck aside. In the comics the original Robin, Dick Grayson, moved out from under Batman to become Nightwing, who has also been rumored at one time to be making a cameo.
Grayson was eventually replaced with Jason Todd as Robin, who was killed by the Joker, when he was severely beaten with a crowbar. With the rumors of Affleck’s Batman having a memorial of a tattered Robin costume I will be curious if they make mention or show which Robin it was who was killed. If the Nightwing rumors are true then I would hope they stick to the comics in it being Jason Todd who Batman has created the memorial for.
The report also says Wonder Woman has also been around for a good amount of time before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice story begins. Her actions and movements are just as elusive as Batman’s. With a past being just as bad-ass, but in a very different and unexpected way.
