Will DC and Warner Brothers Over Use Batman?

by Reggie's Take

All of us comic/movie fans are very much aware that Ben Affleck will be portraying everyone’s favorite vigilante “Batman” in the up-coming “Batman v Superman” movie and “Justice League” movies. New rumors now suggest we could see Affleck as “Batman” pop up in other DC movies.

In 2016 DC and Warner Brothers plan on releasing two movies to theaters, the first one being of course “Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice” and the second film being the “Suicide Squad” movie in August of that year.

This past Monday (January 19, 2015) rumors of possible plot details were leaked for the “Suicide Squad” movie and what kind of role Jared Leto’s “Joker” will play in the movie.

Possible Spoilers from here on down, STOP if you wish to remain in ignorant bliss… You’ve been WARNED!

While “Deadshot” is attempting an assassination on an inmate being transported from Arkham, Harley Quinn foils the success of the attempt while trying to break out the Joker, causing both Quinn and Deadshot to be captured and sent Amanda Waller’s prison.

The Joker is then also transferred to Waller’s prison in order to keep a better watch over Harley Quinn. The Joker according to these rumors will be spending much of the film in his prison cell, while the squad is sent to keep ‘bio weaponry’ from being purchased by Lex Luthor. At this point and time “Lex Luthor” will only be mentioned and not seen in the film. (That could change of course)

Mean while the character of Waller is looking to track down and capture every super hero and villain. It’s also implied that Waller is also after “Batman”, but “Batman” would only be seen on-screen from previous camera footage they have of him.

The Joker’s only big action scene won’t happen until the end of the movie when a riot breaks out and he kills several people during allowing him to escape.

At this point I’m sure your asking yourself at what point will they be overusing “Batman”?

Well according to a second rumor released on Tuesday, “Batman” will apparently now make an actual appearance at the end of the “Suicide Squad” movie either during or after the Joker’s escape from prison.

According to the site the “Suicide Squad” ending with the Joker escaping and “Batman” showing up will be setting the stage for the solo “Batman” movie and that it… “will take some inspiration from Frank Miller’s comic book series The Dark Knight Returns — the third issue of which is a story about Batman facing off against an escaped Joker. Gotham City Police Commissioner Ellen Yindel who replaces James Gordon during the comic book story is planned for inclusion in the film.”

Should DC and Warner Brothers use “Batman” outside of what we already knew or suspected he was going to be appearing in already? After all we know were going to see Affleck as “Batman” in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, two “Justice League” movies and at least one solo “Batman” movie, but is it necessary to see “Batman” in such movies as the “Suicide Squad” or is it the only chance DC and W.B. have to make all this work?

Remember these are rumors at this point and although the site reporting all of this seems get things right more then they get them wrong I would take most of this with a grain of salt. Even if Warner Brothers and DC never confirm or deny this it’s still possible they could put “Batman” in the “Suicide Squad” movie as a surprise for all the fans.

As with most things in life we will have to wait and see.
