Bridge of Spies – Theatrical Trailer
The first trailer for Steven Spielberg‘s new Cold War thriller “Bridge of Spies” was released on Friday and it looks as if this could be one of Tom Hanks best movies in sometime.
Bridge of Spies is based on the novel written by Giles Whittell. A true story of three men, William Fisher, alias Rudolf Abel, a British born KGB agent arrested by the FBI in New York City and jailed as a Soviet super spy for trying to steal America’s most precious nuclear secrets.
Gary Powers, the American U-2 pilot who was captured when his plane was shot down while flying a reconnaissance mission over the closed cities of central Russia; and Frederic Pryor, a young American graduate student in Berlin mistakenly identified as a spy, arrested and held without charge by the Stasi, East Germany’s secret police.
Steven Spielberg has plenty of experience with historical dramas with such movies as Schindler’s List, Lincoln and Saving Private Ryan. Bridge of Spies script was written by; Ethan Coen & Joel Coen (Coen brothers) and Matt Charman. I wouldn’t be surprised if this movie generates some Oscar buzz as well.
A dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, “Bridge of Spies” is the story of James Donovan, a Brooklyn insurance claims lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot.
