On Tuesday the latest trailer for Disney’s newest live-action remake of their classic tale, Pete’s Dragon was released.
The new Pete’s Dragon movie blends live action and CGI to tell the story of a bond between an orphaned boy, Pete, and his best friend, Elliott, who just happens to be a dragon. The film is a re-imagining of the studios’ 1977 classic of the same name. The entire film was shot on location in New Zealand.
Pete’s Dragon seems to have a similar tone to The Jungle Book, both appear to be totally different films in terms of style, tone, and pace, to their predecessors and the story line looks to tug at your heartstrings.
Pete’s Dragon stars newcomer Oakes Fegley as Pete, a boy who has seemingly survived alone in the forest for six years. Robert Redford is Mr Meacham, a woodcarver who likes to tell local children stories of the dragon who lives in the forest. Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard) his daughter, works as the forest ranger, and dismisses her dad’s stories as fantasy, until she meets Pete, who claims he’s lived happily in the forest with Elliott.
Pete’s Dragon hits theaters on August 12, 2016
Cast: Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence, Robert Redford
