What do you get when Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are bound for a human colony that’s 120 years away, one of the most anticipated films of 2016.

Sony earlier this week revealed the first trailer for the original sci-fi drama Passengers. Set on a luxury spaceship with 5,000 passengers in hypersleep bound for a human colony 120 years away.

When two of its passengers, Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are awakened 90 years too early they both become the ship’s only chance of fixing a serious malfunction that could affect all on board.

The original script for Passengers floated about Hollywood for years and in 2007 was on the “Black List” as one of Hollywood’s most admired scripts not yet in production. At one time the movie was only given a modest budget of $35 million with Keanu Reeves and Reese Witherspoon attached.

Eventually it found a home with Sony Pictures in first part of 2015. Principal photography on the movie began in September of 2015.

Passengers Official Synopsis:
Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are two passengers onboard a spaceship transporting them to a new life on another planet. The trip takes a deadly turn when their hibernation pods mysteriously wake them 90 years before they reach their destination. As Jim and Aurora try to unravel the mystery behind the malfunction, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… only to be threatened by the imminent collapse of the ship and the discovery of the truth behind why they woke up.
