Lucasfilm and Disney have released the final trailer to the first stand-alone movie in the Star Wars universe.
Despite all the talk about the re-shoots that have sparked a lot of questions and in my opinion have been overblown, this newest and final trailer for “Rogue One” looks like we may actually get director Gareth Edwards vision that puts the “war” into Star Wars.
With the “Force Awakens” Disney and Lucasfilm kept the plot of the movie extremely well hidden from the audience in its trailers and thankfully with “Rogue One” they haven’t done that and there’s really no reason to either. Any Star Wars fan from the biggest to just the casual already know that “Rogue One” deals with the Rebels trying to steal the plans to the Death Star.
The biggest risk Rogue One has going for it when it comes to theaters in December could also be its biggest strength. Including this newest trailer Rogue One looks as if this could be the first Star Wars film to change our thinking of what a Star Wars film could be and still give fans what they want and come to expect.
Directed by Gareth Edwards
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.
Official Rogue One synopsis:
From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.
