Transformers: The Last Knight – Teaser Trailer
As promised by Michael Bay, Paramount Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for the fifth movie in the Transformers franchise, The Last Knight.
Even thought Michael Bay said he wouldn’t return to direct another Transformers movie after Age of Extinction, he steps back in for the fifth installment of the franchise that seems to frustrate longtime fans and hated by critics across the board.
The first teaser trailer narrated by Anthony Hopkins gives us a glimpse of what we could possibly expect. So what can we expect after seeing the first trailer? To be honest we can’t really tell anything if I were to be honest. Before the trailer came out there had been plenty leaked details concerning the movie that included things like King Arthur, Nazis, Hot Rod, mini-Dinobots, and a new Megatron.
What we did get from the trailer was a new look at Optimus Prime, floating in space and kicking Bumblebee’s ass, a longer haired Cade Yeager (Mark Walhberg) and the return of Josh Duhamel as “Captain Lennox”.
What the Transformers movies have seemed to do very well over the first four and what looks to continue in Last Knight is the connection between human history and the Transformers themselves. According to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura the history between the humans and the Transformers will both expand the mythology while also serving as an accessible entry point for new and returning moviegoers who might have missed out on Age of Extinction.
In the first Transformers movie it was the Hoover Dam, “Revenge of the Fallen” the Pyramids, “Dark of the Moon” it was the moon and with “Age of Extinction” the dinosaurs extinction.
Will “The Last Knight” do a billion dollars at the box office in 2017? If I were a betting man I wouldn’t bet against it, but that doesn’t mean the franchise can’t have its first hiccup.
There are a lot of people in the world who love the Transformer franchise and those who just wish they would stop already. For me I find the franchise as one large enjoyable popcorn franchise that won’t make you think, won’t have the best plots, but will give you plenty of action that will allow you to forget about the world for two hours.
