Director Matt Reeves has revealed the first look of the Batmobile for his upcoming, The Batman movie.
The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson won’t come to theaters until June of 2021 and in the past few weeks Director Matt Reeves have given us a glimpse of Pattinson cape and cowl and now we get our first look at what Pattinson Batman will be driving around Gotham.
I know what some fans are thinking? Matt Reeves borrowed Vin Diesel’s car from the Fast and Furious and moved the engine to the back. This is obviously going to be a far less stylized version of The Caped Crusader’s vehicle than we’ve seen in previous movies.
The militarized tank Christopher Nolan gave us with his trilogy and then there’s Ben Affleck‘s Batmobile with front mounted machine guns. The Batmobile Matt Reeves revealed on Wednesday falls more in line with the one driven during the 1960’s television series starring Adam West, granted that was a modified 1955 Ford Lincoln Futura.
If your familiar with your Batman comics you will know that The Caped Crusader has driven similar minimalist Batmobiles, like the Neal Adams’ design from the 1970s and ’80s.
It’s pretty obvious that Matt Reeves “The Batman” is taking a completely different approach to the character then the previous two incarnations by Snyder and Nolan. Personally I’m fine with that and I don’t want to make a rush to judgment based on a few images that could easily be taken completely out of context. Am I a little skeptical? Sure, but for now I will wait for The Batman to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
