The Suicide Squad – Red Band Trailer

On Friday James Gunn and Warner Bros. released the Red-Band trailer for The Suicide Squad the R-Rated Sequel, King Shark, “nom-nom” and All.

The Suicide Squad trailer is looked at as a sequel / soft reboot to 2016’s Suicide Squad needing to introduce the audience to several new characters and re-acquaint us with the returning characters from the first film and at the same time convince the audience to return.

While watching the trailer you are left with no doubt the vibe James Gunn was going for with The Suicide Squad, an ensemble action-comedy with plenty of violence and banter about cocks on a beach.

It was hard not seeing this trailer as an R-Rated, DC version of Guardians of the Galaxy and I am sure James Gunn would be the first to argue that it is not, but there were times where that exact thought did not cross my mind while watching the trailer. In some ways that is not a bad thing, I was just hoping to get more about the plot of the movie.

I did enjoy much of the banter and look forward to seeing just how much of a hard-ass Idris Elba’s character is and who does not love the beautiful and talented Margot Robbie and her total commitment she puts into Harley Quinn.

With this trailer being released in March I am hoping we get at least one more that has a bit more substance to it, before the movie is released on August 6th.

The Suicide Squad official Synopsis:

“Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.”
