Ghostbusters: Afterlife – Mini-Pufts

Sony released a new video for Ghostbusters: Afterlife revealing the return of sorts of a character that now seems a little short on stature.

The Stay-Puft marshmallow man stomping through the streets of New York from the original Ghostbusters movie is as iconic as they come and Jason Reitman’s sequel Ghostbusters: Afterlife is not shying away from the iconography of his father’s (Ivan Reitman) first two movies.

Sony’s new video for Ghostbusters: Afterlife takes the sequel’s respect for the past into unexpected and new directions and sometimes that is a good thing. In the video we see Paul Rudd’s character doing a little shopping and gets more then he came for. Rudd notices a bag of marshmallow’s moving and out comes a “Mini-Puft,” initially intrigued, that quickly turns when the “Mini-Puft” would rather bite him than be friendly. Fortunately, the Mini-Pufts are more interested in roasting and make s’mores of each other.

As fun and humorous as this video is, it does raise a question? Is it an actual clip from the movie or just a promotional video teasing the audience of what they can expect to see when Afterlife finally comes to theaters? Regardless there is a definite Gremlins-esque sense of humor to the video and it left me wanting more.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is expected to be released into theaters on November 11th, hopefully Jason Reitman can deliver a fun romp that gives us all some much-needed escapism. If it does not, who we gonna call?
