What teenage boy hasn’t thought about the ideal, perfect woman or taking a shower with her?
Well apparently Universal wants to revisit that very idea. Hollywood and its infinite wisdom not to mention a room full of people who can’t come up with an original idea anymore has announced they are planning to remake “Weird Science”.
“Weird Science” follows the adventures of Gary and Wyatt, two high school outcasts who use their home computer to create the girl of their dreams. The woman who emerges from their experiments teaches the boys about self-respect, self-confidence and true love.
Ilan Mitchell-Smith played, “Wyatt”, Anthony Michael Hall “Gary”, Kelly LeBrock “Lisa” and Bill Paxton “Chet”, the big brother from hell whose eventually gets turned into literally a pile of shit. The film also features an early performance by Robert Downey Jr. in the 1985 comedy written and directed by John Hughes. Universal and producer Joel Silver announced they would be remaking the comedy for the 21st century.
Michael Bacall has been asked to write the screenplay. Bacall’s recent work includes “Project X” and “21 Jump Street”.
No casting news or release date have been announced.
