Marvel’s Ant-Man had been slated for a November 6th, 2015 release until just recently when Disney and Marvel Studios announced a new date.
Ant-Man will now come to theaters five months early for a July 31st, 2015 release. The new release date places it just two weeks after The Man of Steel 2 (or Superman vs. Batman) is to hit theaters on July 17th, 2015. If the Zack Snyder sequel blows audiences away it could be a very risky move for Disney. Its original release date had it going up against James Bond 24, on the same weekend.
Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron will kick off 2015’s summer of a thousand block busters for Disney on May 1st. With Disney moving Ant-Man the rumor of Star Wars Episode VII having a December 2015 release may now be more a reality.
Edgar Wright who’s co-writing the script with Joe Cornish will still be directing. Fans are still waiting to see who will play the title character.
