Universal on Tuesday set the release date for the fourth installment of the Jurassic Park franchise and its official title.
Universal will release “Jurassic World” on June 12th, 2015. Currently Universal and its dino sized franchise will have that weekend all to its own. Assassin’s Creed and Pixar’s “Inside Out” are set to open the following weekend, leaving little new competition to take a bite out of the sequel opening weekend.
“Jurassic World” is just one of many potential block busters to announce a release date for 2015. This will be the first new Jurassic Park movie since “Jurassic Park III” hit theaters in July of 2001.
Overall the franchise has taken in over $2,184,218,798 in worldwide box office numbers. The original “Jurassic Park” movie in 1993 is still the highest grossing of the first three.
Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly wrote the screenplay. Colin Trevorrow will also direct the film. Universal will have the film shot and released in 3D.
