Penny’s promiscuous friend Christy from Nebraska is in town, and ends up sleeping with Howard almost instantly. With Howard gone, Penny takes his place playing Halo 3, causing Sheldon much distress believing no-one can be that attractive and be that skilled at a video game.
Howard and Christy take over Penny’s apartment, causing Penny to sleep on Leonard and Sheldon’s couch for the night. Howard invites Christy to move in with him and his mother, taking up all his time.
Sheldon is distraught over the odd number in the group believing they can no longer function. He is even more distraught when he invites Penny again to play Halo but she declines the offer to go dancing.
Believing that they are falling apart as a group, the guys go to speak to Howard. When they arrive, they hear Christy and Howard’s mother arguing, causing Christy to leave. Howard, once again single, goes with the guys to play Halo and the group is restored yet again.
Title reference: When the gang orders Chinese, their order of dumpling appetizer comes with four dumplings which is non-divisible by the three of them.
The morning after the original Halo Night, Sheldon says he is following the routine he has followed every Saturday morning since he and Leonard moved into the apartment. Thus suggesting that Halo Night is on Friday. But later in the episode, when Sheldon asks Penny to take part in Halo Night and she says for her it’s dancing night, Sheldon asks her if she dances every Wednesday night. Suggesting that Halo Night is a fixed night of the week.
As Chen the waiter at the Chinese restaurant leaves the table, he mutters “Young idiot” under his breath in Cantonese.
First episode in which we hear Howard’s mother.
In the final Halo team fighting scene, Howard screams for a “Med pack”, there are no med packs in Halo 3, since the main character of the video game recharges shields (health) by taking no damage for a short period of time.
