Gal Gadot could be joined by the Captain of the Starship Enterprise when the Wonder Woman movie hits theaters in 2017.
Variety began reporting on Wednesday that actor Chris Pine, aka Captain Kirk in the rebooted Star Trek franchise is in talks with Warner Brothers and DC to play “Steve Trevor”, Wonder Woman’s love interest.
Scott Eastwood was originally rumored for the role of “Steve Trevor”, but later took a guaranteed supporting role in Suicide Squad movie currently filming in Toronto.
In the comics, “Steve Trevor” was Wonder Woman’s love interest durring World War II. When that was retconned, (the alteration of previously established facts in the continuity) he became her present day love interest and also the go between for the Justice League with the United States government.
Not knowing exactly how DC and Warner Brothers plan to handle the Wonder Woman movie we’re not sure which version Chris Pine will be playing.
Wonder Woman will be a tough character for Warner Brothers to write and get right at the same time. It will be a constant balancing act of setting up a woman who doesn’t need to rely on a man.
Warner Brothers looks to be surrounding Gadot with a lot of recognizable actors as they did with Henry Cavil in the “Man of Steel”.
