The first trailer for Gareth Edwards Rogue One: A Star Wars Story premiered earlier today the first Star Wars movie not connected to the trilogies.

The first trailer for Rogue One had been anticipated for weeks now with talk of when it might premier and in front of what movie it might be attached to. All those questions were answered this morning when ABC’s GMA premiered it during their morning news show.

From the first shot of Felicity Jones to the awesome shot of the Death Star and our heroes dodging fire from the AT-AT the first trailer of Rogue One has plenty for Star Wars fans to try and absorb and make sense of.

We also get our first look at Ben Mendelsohn‘s villainous character dressed in his white cloak uniform. Who exactly is his character will be a question I will have for a time. Did you see the scene with a cloaked figure walking into the room with the Red Guards? The Emperor? Vader? Or possibly a new character we have yet met or know of?

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to hit theaters on December 16th.
