At the height of Gibson’s career he was Mad Max and then he became a Lethal Weapon and now in Blood Father he’s an ex-con trying to protect his daughter.

In Blood Father, Gibson plays an ex-con by the name of John Link trying to make a living as a tattoo artist when his estranged daughter, played by Erin Moriarty, comes back into his life. Gibson’s character John Link learns his daughter is on the run from a drug cartel because she’s committed a murder while defending someone else.

This is Gibson’s first movie since he appeared as the bad guy in Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables 3. In November Mel Gibson returns to the directors chair with his World War II film starring Andrew Garfield and Vince Vaughn. Mr. Gibson recently stated his interest in making a sequel to The Passion of the Christ.

Lionsgate on Thursday released an official trailer for the upcoming action-thriller starring Mel Gibson. Blood Father was adapted from the novel of the same name by Peter Craig, who also wrote the screenplay.

Blood Father Official Synopsis:
Mel Gibson stars as John Link, an ex-convict who fights to protect his estranged daughter from the drug cartel that is hunting her down. In this thrilling action film, John must use his connections from his past life and his skills as an ex-criminal to keep him and his daughter alive.
