Its been announced that Warner Brothers and Zach Snyder have found their actor to play the villain in the upcoming Justice League movie.
Back in May of this year it was announced that the villain for Zach Snyder’s Justice League movie would be Steppenwolf (not the band) who we got to see if you watched the deleted scene or the ultimate cut of Batman v Superman on blu-ray.
According to a report from The Wrap, Ciaran Hinds a talented actor from the HBO show “Game of Thrones” will be portraying the villain that causes Ben Affleck’s, Bruce Wayne/Batman to form the Justice League. If your a fan of Hinds on “Game of Thrones” don’t get to excited as his work for the role is all motion capture.
It’s also being reported that Steppenwolf will be getting an upgrade in his appearance from that of his cameo in “Batman v Superman”. Steppenwolf’s ultimate goal is acquiring the three mother boxes that belonged to mankind, the Amazonians, and the Atlanteans.
In case you’ve never heard of the “mother boxes” before, here is just a little of what they’re capable of.
According to DC:
Mother Boxes can access the energy of the Source for various effects; they can change the gravitational constant of an area, transfer energy from one place to another, control the mental state of a host, communicate telepathically with a host or other life form, manipulate the life-force of a host to sustain it past fatal injuries, open or close Boom-tubes, take over and control non-sentient machines, evolve non-sentient machines, merge sentient beings into a single more powerful being, sustain a life form in a hostile environment such as space, and do many other things. Mother Boxes have an affinity for the Source and are believed to draw their power from it; in that sense, they can be seen as a computer that links man to God.
If you disregard the fact that the character of Steppenwolf’ will be motion capture the hiring of Ciaran Hinds should be a positive one for the movie. Hinds has made a living in Hollywood as a versatile character actor, appearing in such movies as Munich, There Will Be Blood, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.
The down side to casting Hinds is the fact that the movie is named “Justice League” and when your trying to assemble a group of heroes in a movie like the “Justice League” the focus becomes more on the heroes and in doing so the villainous role tends to take a back seat.
