Lionsgate and CBS Films on Monday released the first full-length trailer for “Patriots Day,” that tells the story of a Boston police officer on the hunt for the Boston Marathon bombers.
Mark Wahlberg stars as Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders of the Boston PD who along with first responders and investigators hunt for the terrorists responsible for the bombing during the Boston marathon in April of 2013.
Wahlberg re-teams with director Peter Berg who directed Lone Survivor and Deepwater Horizon. Patriots Day will be the third movie for both actor and director working together.
The biggest question for Lionsgate and CBS will be if the movie paying audience is ready to watch a movie about a tragic event that happened just over three years ago.
Patriots Day opens in a limited release in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles on December 21st and nationwide wide on January 13, 2017.
Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon, J.K. Simmons, John Goodman, and Michelle Monaghan
