Oh the weather outside is frightful and on this Christmas day Twentieth Century Fox has released the first trailer for Alien: Covenant and it looks frightfully wonderful.
Alien: Covenant is the follow up to Ridley Scott’s 2012 Prometheus. Scott’s original Alien movie released in 1979 has become a sci-fi horror movie classic that spawned three sequels of it’s own.
With “Covenant” Scott is taking the franchise back to its 1979 roots with plenty of carnage. A few weeks ago FOX showed a few scenes from the movie to members of the press and according to many reports the aliens were tearing people to pieces with brutal violence and large amounts of blood.
In the age where many directors and movie studios usually want the PG-13 rating to attract as many ticket buyers as possible, Scott on the other hand is going for the hard R and I’m okay with that. I’m not normally one for the horror genre, but I do make an exception when it comes to the Alien franchise.
Alien: Covenant hits theaters on May 19th, 2017.
Cast: Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby
