Lucasfilm and Disney’s animated show Star Wars Rebels is getting ready to jump into hyperspace on its fourth and final season with a new trailer to help with the wait.
When Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012 they made the decision to end The Clone Wars animated series after five seasons with out giving the show proper closure. Then came along Rebels that helped provide some closure to such characters as Ahsoka, Rex and Darth Maul and still introduce us to the crew of the Ghost.
During Star Wars Celebration earlier this year it was announced that the up coming fourth season would be the shows last. If you are a huge fan of Star Wars and Rebels, like my self, you have plenty of questions you hope they answer and hopefully to everyone’s satisfaction.
The biggest questions on most peoples mind is what happens to many of the characters we’ve come to love and hate. Probably the biggest worm on everyone’s hook is what happens to Kanan and Ezra? Kanan was a padawan when order 66 was given losing his Master and took on the task of trying to pass on his knowledge to Ezra. As a fan I would like to see them both survive, but my gut tells me that won’t be the case.
We know that Hera, Chopper and The Ghost are around during Rogue One, but that doesn’t mean the series will end before those events take place. It’s entirely possible the series wraps up during the events of Rogue One or shortly they’re after. To be fair we can’t leave out Zeb or Sabine. Where Kanan and Ezra’s fate might be easier to predict, Zeb and Sabine story lines could go in many different directions.
If you’ve watched the trailer before reading all of this then hopefully you caught Tarkin’s line referring to Krennic and “Stardust” while speaking with Thrawn. Speaking of Thrawn, Thrawn is actually the character after Kanan and Ezra that I’m curious about most as to his fate, will they kill him off or will they write him off in a way he could be brought back at some future date.
Personally I hope they don’t kill Thrawn off after introducing him at the beginning of Season Three officially making him cannon only to have him gone by the end of season four. There’s so much more they could do with Thrawn and I hope he sticks around for a while longer.
Season four of Star Wars Rebels premieres October 16th.
