Full Live-Action Cast & Synopsis Revealed For “The Lion King”

Disney has been enjoying huge success with their live action adaptations of their animated classics and on Wednesday, Disney officially confirmed the full voice cast, along with a new synopsis for The Lion King.

The Lion King, the original animated movie was released in 1994 and is considered by many one of Disney’s greatest animated movies ever made. Jon Favreau who directed the live action adaptation of “The Jungle Book” will now direct one of the most anticipated remakes ever attempted.

One thing to keep in mind when they say “live action” its really all CGI, just as they did for The Jungle Book”. If you loved the original Lion King movie and your either excited or not excited about this new version, Disney did at least get the great James Earl Jones to come back and reprise his role of Mufasa.

The Lion King” roars into theaters on July 19, 2019.

Official new Synopsis for the live-action The Lion King:
“From Disney Live Action, director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

Donald Glover as Simba, Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner as Pumbaa and Timon, John Oliver as Zazu, Chiwetel Ejiofor as the Scar, Alfre Woodard as Simba’s mother Sarabi, John Kani as baboon Rafiki, James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa, Beyonce Knowles Carter as Nala. Eric Andre as Azizi, Florence Kasumba as Shezi, Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari, JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph as young Simba and Nala.
