Rampage Trailer

Warner Brothers and New Line Cinema have released the first trailer for the movie Rampage, that’s inspired by the 1980’s video game of the same name.

In 1986 Rampage was an arcade game where players controlled gigantic monsters that are trying to survive against the onslaught of the military. Each level ended when the city was reduced to nothing.

Dwayne Johnson and San Andreas director Brad Peyton have re-teamed for the movie adaptation of Rampage. Johnson’s character shares a close bond with George, an intelligent silverback gorilla. When an unknown object falls from the sky, George comes across it shooting him with something that eventually causes him to turn into a gigantic monster.

When you watch the trailer it gives you the feeling that King Kong and San Andreas have crossed over into one movie, but with the name Rampage.

Reggie’s Take:

Okay I will admit that Rampage does not look like a movie that will blow your mind with some emotional story line or be an Oscar contender, but this kind of movie doesn’t have to be something great, it just has to be enjoyable.

I look at these types of movies as your traditional popcorn flick that you go to the theater to escape life and have a good time with. After watching the trailer, Rampage only has to do a couple of things in my mind for it to be a fun time.

The first thing it has to do is not take it self so serious that they try and make us, the audience to take it serious. The only serious part about Rampage should be the connection between Dwayne Johnson’s character and the George the gorilla. If they can makes us feel and care enough for why Johnson’s character has such love for George then we the audience will feel more sympathy as to why he wants to keep George from being killed.

The second thing Rampage has to do is to let the audience know that it’s having fun with the material so we the audience can enjoy the ride. A popcorn flick like Rampage should be enjoyed for what is when it hits theaters.

Rampage hits theaters on April 20, 2018

Cast: Dwayne Johnson, Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, Jake Lacy, Joe Manganiello, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, P.J. Byrne, Marley Shelton, Breanne Hill, Jack Quaid, Matt Gerald

Official Rampage Synopsis:
Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered alpha predators. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.
