On Wednesday, Universal released a new trailer for “First Man” featuring Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong and NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon.
“First Man” is based on the novel “First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong” by author James R. Hansen. First published in 2005, “First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong” is the official biography of astronaut Neil Armstrong, who would become the first man to walk on the Moon on July 20, 1969.
As a movie/television fan I enjoyed the movie “Apollo 13” starring Tom Hanks and the HBO miniseries “From The Earth to the Moon”, but after seeing the latest trailer for “First Man” I could easily have a new favorite movie involving NASA’s space program.
Ryan Gosling re-teams with his “La La Land” director Damien Chazelle. Gosling will play Neil Armstrong and actress Claire Foy from “The Crown” will co-star as Janet Armstrong.
Early reviews of “First Man” have all been positive after it having its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
First Man opens in theaters on October 12th
Cast: Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy, Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Corey Stoll, Ciaran Hinds, Christopher Abbott, Patrick Fugit, Lukas Haas
First Man Official Synopsis:
Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for Universal Pictures’ First Man, the riveting story behind the first manned mission to the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the decade leading to the historic Apollo 11 flight. A visceral and intimate account told from Armstrong’s perspective, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the film explores the triumphs and the cost—on Armstrong, his family, his colleagues and the nation itself—of one of the most dangerous missions in history.
