The legendary Christopher Reeve will be returning to theaters later this year in the role that made him famous as Superman: The Movie celebrates its 40th Anniversary.
Richard Donner’s Superman: The Movie celebrates its 40th Anniversary in December and to celebrate the mild stone Warner Brothers and Fathom Events are partnering to bring the man of steel back to the big screen for a select number of nights. The movie will be shown in its original 1978 theatrical version.
Getting to see Christopher Reeve as Superman/Clark Kent up on the big screen is not the only reason to head to the theater. Let’s not forget the amazing cast that surrounded Christopher Reeve like Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, Marlon Brando as Jor-El, Ned Beatty as Luthor’s sidekick Otis, Valerie Perrine as Miss Tessmacher, Jackie Cooper as Perry White and Glenn Ford as George Kent.
Superman: The Movie will return to select theaters nationwide for three nights according to the Fathom Events website. Showings will take place at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, Tuesday, November 27, and Monday December 3rd.
If there’s not a theater close to you showing Superman on those dates, no need to worry. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced last week that it will release a 4K Ultra HD disc, a Blu-ray disc, and a Digital UHD copy in stores on November 6th as part of the 40th-anniversary celebration. Although it does not appear to be any new features on the 4K release you can check out what will be offered below.
Check back in December when we here at Reggie’s Take will be reviewing Superman: The Movie and if it still holds up forty years later.
