Lucasfilm and Disney is bringing a new series of animated shorts to YouTube that will introduce the next generation to the galaxy far, far away.
If you were a kid of the 1970’s and 80’s you most likely grew up watching George Lucas’s original Star Wars trilogy in theaters. Maybe you grew up as a kid watching the prequel trilogy in the late 90’s early 2000’s.
Fast-forward to 2018 and some of you may have kids of your own now and if you’re wondering when and how might be a good way to introduce Star Wars, look no further then Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures.
Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures will premier on StarWarsKids.com and the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel on November 30th with six animated shorts. The shorts will combine original dialogue, music, sound effects with new animations, educational add-ons to help older fans and parents to help welcome kids to explore the galaxy far, far away.
New animated shorts with fan-favorite characters will debut in December followed by regular releases in 2019.
Lucasfilm’s vice president for franchise content and strategy, James Waugh said…
“With Galaxy of Adventures, we wanted to craft something that allowed parents to help their kids take their first step into a much larger world whether they were ready to show their kids the films or wanted to find new ways to explore the content.”
Reggie’s Take:
I don’t care if your a Star Wars fan of over forty years or a fan for less then a year I think “Galaxy of Adventures” is a great way to introduce Star Wars to potential younger fans in a way that may not be as jarring.
Now I realize some of the hard core Star Wars fan have had issues with what Disney and Lucasfilm have been doing, but I’m of the opinion that Star Wars should be for the young as well as the old and that includes animation aimed at kids.
Will I watch “Galaxy of Adventures” on a regular basis? That is yet to be determined. I will be checking out the first few animated shorts to see what it’s all about and if it’s good then there’s a chance.
