Marvel Studios released a new trailer for the highly anticipated Captain Marvel. Set in the 1990’s Marvel’s newest film in the MCU will serve as its first true prequel.
I know what your thinking, the Captain Marvel trailer dropped Monday evening during Monday night football so why am I posting about it almost twenty-four hours later? Actually there’s a good answer. My real life job requires me to turn in right about 7 p.m. local time, so when a trailer drops during halftime, well I’m already asleep.
Brie Larson stars as Carol Davners, an American pilot whose been given superhuman powers and is caught up in the middle of a war between two alien races. Captain Marvel also sees the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Furry and Clark Gregg as fan favorite Phil Coulson as members of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The newest trailer for Captain Marvel looks a lot like an outer space epic set in the superhero universe we’ve come to know and love over the last ten years. So far Marvel’s MCU has enjoyed success with it’s movies set the vast milky-way galaxy like Guardians of the Galaxy.
Captain Marvel doesn’t look to have a lot of laughs and that’s fine, it doesn’t need to. Not all movies set in space in the MCU have to have humor. It works for Guardians, but that doesn’t mean the same template has to apply to every movie not set on Earth.
Cast: Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, with Annette Bening, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.
