Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for Avengers: Endgame the follow up to the events of Avengers: Infinity War.
At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos (Josh Brolin) was able to wipe out half of the life throughout the universe with just a snap of his Infinity Gauntlet. That one snap took several heroes we love while leaving Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye and Ant-Man to try and undo the devastation left behind by Thanos.
As a huge fan of Marvel’s MCU I thought this first trailer, which by the way is very much a teaser trailer despite it being nearly two and a half minutes long, was exactly what Marvel Studios needed to release as the first look into Avengers 4.
As fans of the MCU we were all extremely excited and curious as to how the Russo brothers plan on bringing the first ten years to an exciting conclusion. Yes I’m very much aware that Avengers: Endgame is not the actual conclusion, but it does bring the story line of the first ten years of teasing the coming of Thanos to a close.
This first trailer for Avengers: Endgame clearly focused on the two anchors of the MCU Iron Man and Captain America and I loved that. The clear emotional part of this trailer was that of Tony on a space ship trying to get back to Earth recording a message for Pepper. It told me that Tony was able to get off Titan, but doesn’t show me if he’s able to make back to Earth. I do believe that Tony will make it back, but exactly how is something I don’t need answered in the very first trailer.
The scenes of Cap in the trailer weren’t necessarily as emotional as Tony’s, but does show that Steve Rogers is willing to do or take what ever risk necessary in order to reverse what Thanos did, because if it doesn’t Steve doesn’t know what else to do.
Even though Tony and Cap were the two main focus of this first trailer it did take the time to touch on Black Widow, Thor, Banner aka Hulk, Hawkeye and some are suggesting that Clint Barton has now turned into his “Ronin” character from the comics, possible yes, but it could be to inside baseball for those who are not familiar with the comics. Plus we got that fun little scene at the end of the trailer with Paul Rudd as Scot Lang.
I feel it’s pretty obvious that Thanos’s snap will be reversed and the majority of characters that were dusted in Infinity War will be brought back. The bigger question when it comes to Avengers: Endgame will be if Tony or Steve have to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to ensure reversing the snap.
