‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ Final Trailer

Warner Brothers and Legendary Entertainment have released the final trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer.

The 2014 follow-up to Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla will see the return of Monarch who will face off once again against the ancient monsters with the objective of protecting the human race from extinction, except this time they will have to turn to Godzilla in order to survive.

You wouldn’t think hearing the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” in a Godzilla trailer would work, but in this case it does. In order to make a movie like Godzilla: King of the Monsters work, you can’t think of the monsters as just mindless beasts and in order to do that you have to give a sense of awe and wonder to them. It can’t all be carnage and destruction.

This final trailer also gives us a brief glimpse of the title fight that sees Godzilla taking on Ghidorah to determine the true alpha among the Titans. Besides the three-headed beast Ghidorah we’ll also get to see Rodan, Mothra and others when Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits theaters May 31st.

Cast: Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler, Bradley Whitford, Ken Watanabe, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Thomas Middleditch, Sally Hawkins

Official synopsis for Godzilla: King of the Monsters:
The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
