On Tuesday, Paramount Pictures released the first trailer for Gemini Man a sci-fi thriller that sees Will Smith playing an assassin who must hunt down his own clone.
Will Smith pulls double duty in Gemini Man as Director Ang Lee used de-aging VFX in order to portray a 50-year-old Will Smith hunting down a 23-year-old younger looking Will Smith. Lee filmed Gemini Man in 4K at 120 frames-per-second, just as he did his previous film in 2016.
The movie was first conceived in the late 1990’s with such actors as Harrison Ford, Nicolas Cage, Clint Eastwood and Sean Connery all at one time attached. When Ang Lee took it over in 2017 he cast Will Smith in the lead role.
Original sci-fi movies like a Gemini Man have struggled in the past to find success at the box office. The majority of sci-fi movies that see success today are preexisting long-running franchises like Star Wars, Star Trek and Jurassic Park/World just to name a few.
Gemini Man hits theaters on October 4th of this year.
