Reggie’s Take:
I’m not going to apologize for my opinion, but I thoroughly enjoyed Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen and I’m looking for to seeing Angel Has Fallen.
Are either the greatest action movies of all time? Of course not, that title still belongs to Die Hard, which is not a Christmas movie by the way.
I found the first two Fallen movies as solid, enjoyable, summer popcorn action movies that allowed me to escape for a couple of hours and forget what’s going on in the world. Gerard Butler won’t win any awards or an Oscar for his role as Mike Banning, but he doesn’t need to. Butler as Banning reminds me a little of John McClane mixed with some Stallone thrown in for good measure.
If you weren’t a fan of the first two movies then most likely you won’t be seeing Angel Has Fallen and that’s fine, movies are subjective. If you did like them, as I did, then you can’t wait to see it. For me personally, any movie that has Morgan Freeman as President has got my vote, so to speak.
Angel Has Fallen opens in theaters on August 23rd.
Cast: Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lance Reddick, Tim Blake Nelson, Piper Perabo, with Nick Nolte, Danny Huston
