Terminator: Dark Fate Teaser Trailer

Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger return in their iconic roles in the first teaser trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate.

Paramount and Skydance have released the first trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate the sixth installment in the long running franchise. James Cameron who directed the first two Terminator movies in 1984 and 1991 returns to the franchise he made popular, this time as producer.

Tim Miller was picked by Cameron to direct Dark Fate who last directed 2016’s Deadpool the hugely successful R-rated comic book adaptation. Terminator: Dark Fate according to Cameron is a direct sequel to his 1991 Terminator 2: Judgment Day thus ignoring 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, 2009’s Terminator Salvation and 2015’s Terminator Genisys.

Terminator: Dark Fate will mark the return of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor who last appeared in the role in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Unlike Hamilton, this will mark the sixth time for Schwarzenegger to appear as the T-800 in a Terminator movie.

Cameron’s first two Terminator movies are with out question the two best the franchise has to offer. The three sequels that followed Judgment Day have their good points, but none were able to find the success and popularity the first two under Cameron were able to come by.

With the return of Cameron to the franchise will that mean automatic success for ‘Dark Fate’? No, it does not. Yes, Cameron has returned, but as a producer. I’m sure Cameron had input when it came to the script and he did choose Tim Miller to direct, but its not the same as it would of been if he had directed the movie.

I’m more than willing to give Terminator: Dark Fate a fair shake and hope for the very best, but for now I will maintain a level headed amount of optimism.
