The Lion King Character Posters

Disney has released a set of character posters for the highly anticipated new The Lion King movie. The movie of course is based on the iconic 1994 animated film of the same name.

Jon Favreau who directed the remake of The Jungle Book is also directing The Lion King. Both The Jungle Book and The Lion King have been commonly referred to as “live-action remakes”. While both movies look as if Disney went out and filmed with real animals, make no mistake both are very much animated.

The majority of this new updated Lion King is expected to remain fairly close to the original animated movie, but don’t be surprised if parts of the story are given new, updated twists to set it apart from its 1994 counterpart.

Official synopsis for The Lion King:
Disney’s “The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau (“The Jungle Book”), journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
