Colin Trevorrow‘s Jurassic World short film Battle at Big Rock initially aired Sunday night on FX, but fortunately it was uploaded on-line for all to enjoy.
If you’re a fan of the Jurassic World/Park movies the next installment in the franchise won’t actually be hitting theaters until June of 2021. Universal and director Colin Trevorrow in the mean time are keeping fans excited by releasing a new short film, Battle at Big Rock.
Battle at Big Rock takes place one year after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which saw the surviving dinosaurs from Isla Nubar set loose and free to live/roam anywhere in the world. This new short deals with the consequences of Fallen Kingdom and where the next movie in the franchise is heading.
Trevorrow who co-wrote and directed Jurassic World also co-wrote Fallen Kingdom, but J.A. Bayona took the helm as director. Trevorrow who is returning to the directors’ chair for the third installment is also co-writing it with writer Emily Carmichael.
Last year Trevorrow spoke with Entertainment Weekly about what we can expect from the next film in the franchise. “Jurassic World was an action adventure, Fallen Kingdom is kind of a horror suspense film, and Jurassic World 3 will be a science thriller in the same way that Jurassic Park was.”
