This past week several trailers dropped and in case you haven’t had the chance or just forgot, here’s your chance to get yourself caught up.
Disney-Pixar released just the second trailer for their upcoming film Onward that will mark Pixar’s first movie that’s not considered a sequel in nearly three years. Onward takes place in a suburban fantasy world that sees two teenage elf brothers who set out on a quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out in the world.
I’ve really liked what I’ve seen when it comes to Onward. This movie looks to have the typical Pixar magic, pun not intended and I can’t wait for it to hit theaters in March of next of year.
Voice Cast: Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Official synopsis for Onward:
Set in a suburban fantasy world, “Onward” introduces two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot (voices of Tom Holland and Chris Pratt), who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there. Also featuring the voice of Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Ian and Barley’s mom, Laurel Lightfoot, and Octavia Spencer as the voice of the Manticore, Pixar Animation Studios’ all-new original feature film is directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae—the team behind “Monsters University.”
Onward hits theaters March 6, 2020
Sony Pictures also released Charlie’s Angels second trailer. This is the newest adaptation of the 1970s TV series that originally starred Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith. In November of 2000 Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu starred in the first feature film adaptation that also earned a sequel in July of 2003.
The 2019 incarnation of Charlie’s Angels stars Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska along with Elizabeth Banks who also serves as the films director.
The action and humor shown in the first two trailers gives the movie some hope, but even Patrick Stewart, one of my all time favorites, doesn’t have me convinced that this movie will be good. The trailers could be sending me the wrong signal, fortunately we only have about a month to wait and find out.
Cast: Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska, Elizabeth Banks, Patrick Stewart, Djimon Hounsou, Noah Centineo, Sam Claflin, and Jonathan Tucker.
Official synopsis for Charlie’s Angels:
In Banks’ bold vision, Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska are working for the mysterious Charles Townsend, whose security and investigative agency has expanded internationally. With the world’s smartest, bravest, and most highly trained women all over the globe, there are now teams of Angels guided by multiple Bosleys taking on the toughest jobs everywhere.
Charlie’s Angels opens November 15, 2019
Does this sound familiar? Disney creates a movie based on one of its theme park rides? Of course it does that’s how we got Pirates of the Caribbean. Jungle Cruise stars Dwayne Johnson as a steamboat captain who has to ferry a rich researcher named Lily Houghton played by Emily Blunt, down a peril-filled river to find a magic tree in the middle of the Amazon jungle.
After watching the trailer for Jungle Cruise it feels like a supernatural adventure film in the vein of Pirates of the Caribbean with a little bit of Brendan Fraser’s Mummy movie and Romancing the Stone thrown in for good measure.
Although I enjoyed this first trailer a lot I’m hoping the second trailer will bring Jungle Cruise into better focus and if it can do that this movie will definitely be on my radar come next July.
Jungle Cruise hits theaters on July 24, 2020
Official synopsis for Jungle Cruise:
Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE is an adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition starring Dwayne Johnson as the charismatic riverboat captain and Emily Blunt as a determined explorer on a research mission.
