Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker – Character Posters

Now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is entering the final month before its theatrical release Lucasfilm and Disney has begun the marketing push with new character posters.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, will bring the Skywalker saga to an epic conclusion after more than 40 years since George Lucas introduced us to the galaxy far, far away.

The character posters released by Lucasfilm give us looks at the new characters of D-O, Zorii Bliss, and Jannah, plus returning characters of Rey, Kylo Ren, Rose Tico, Finn, Poe Dameron, Chewbacca, R2-D2, C-3PO and BB-8. Of course we can’t forget about the return of Lando Calrissian to the Star Wars franchise, looking suave and regal all while leaning on a cane and wearing a cape.

Reggie’s Take:
I’ve read on one or two sites where they felt like the character posters released by Lucasfilm looked like glorified trading cards. For starters I can see where they are coming from, I do, but personally I disagree with them.

I actually like the simplistic look of the character posters released for The Rise of Skywalker. Many of the posters that are released for most movies are visually too noisy with everything under the sun thrown in and a lot of the times it’s not necessary.

The old saying that less is more I believe applies here and I applaud Lucasfilm and Disney for taking the road less traveled. The more important question will be is the movie good? Abrams, Kennedy and Lucasfilm all have a lot riding on episode nine, especially after The Last Jedi left part of the fan base dissatisfied.

Does The Rise of Skywalker need to stick the landing with closing out the Skywalker saga? At this particular time I would have to answer yes. That doesn’t mean there’s some room for error, but that margin would be a slim one.

I’ve actually loved The Force Awakens, I think that movie did what it was intended to do and that was to re-energize the fan base. As for The Last Jedi, I liked it, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t have some faults. I actually thought Luke’s story line was the strongest part of episode eight, but not everyone shares my sentiment.

I’m excited to see The Rise of Skywalker, especially with the return of Palpatine and Lando. We’ll just have to wait and see if the force was strong with Abrams.
