Elsa and Anna are returning in Frozen 2, the sequel to Disney’s 2013 hit Frozen as they head out on a dangerous journey in search of answers about Elsa’s magical powers.
In 2013 fans of Disney’s animated movie Frozen couldn’t let it go as it went on to earn $1.276 billion dollars at the worldwide box office. That success helped it become the highest-grossing animated film at the time only to be recently passed by the 2019 remake of The Lion King.
Work on Frozen 2 began when the filmmakers and artists took a research trip to Norway, Finland and Iceland in September of 2016. While there the beauty of the locales and the fall colors of Norway, the waterfalls, and the stark beauty of Iceland inspired them, all of which made it into the movie.
Frozen 2 directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee during 2019’s D23 Expo said that the sequel will answer several questions left behind by the first film, like “Why does Elsa have magical powers”, “Why was Anna born without powers” and “Where were their parents going when their ship sank” plus more.
Frozen 2 opens in U.S. theaters this Friday, November 22nd.

Frozen 2 Official Synopsis:
Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey.
