In a bit of a surprise move Marvel Studios released the first teaser trailer and poster for the highly anticipated Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Marvel’s highly anticipated movie is the start of a new franchise inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, showing off high-flying martial arts and introducing us to a new hero. Marvel’s teaser serves as an introduction to Shang-Chi, who choose to walk away from his father 10 years earlier to escape a life of assassinations and crime. Shang-Chi was raised by his father Wenwu (Tony Leung) to be his apprentice. Wenwu serves as the head of the organization known as the Ten Rings and has gone by many names including The Mandarin.
There have been several Marvel films to feature some degree of martial arts-inspired fighting, Shang-Chi will be the first full-fledged martial arts movie and is part of Marvel’s Phase Four line-up, like most movies saw its production interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be released on September 3rd and is one of four Marvel movies headed to the theaters this year along with Black Widow (July 9th), Eternals (November 5th) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (December 17th).
Marvel has not yet released an official synopsis, but I’m sure it will be only a matter of time. Check out the teaser trailer and poster below.
