Two different web sites have reported that Benedict Cumberbatch, who played Kahn in Star Trek Into Darkness this summer will be rejoining director J.J. Abrams once again and like the director will be jumping Si-Fi franchises to the galaxy far, far, away.
Cumberbatch, who has admitted he has been a life long fan of Star Wars said in a recent interview.
“I was much more connected to Star Wars as a kid, in the way that a lot of kids are because it’s immediate storytelling, very simple – a beautifully, outrageously simple narrative in a way and a wonderful three-act melodrama, opera. And I loved them. I really, really loved those films and I always wanted to be Han Solo. Everything Harrison Ford did I just thought was the coolest thing ever.”
Cumberbatch recently dropped out of Guillermo Del Toro‘s next film, Crimson Peak with no explanation as to why. It should be noted that “Crimson Peak” and Star Wars Episode VII are scheduled to be filming at the same time.
Is this recent news true or accurate? Who knows. At this point it is just another in a long line of recent rumours that have come out over the last several weeks concerning Episode VII. Like most J.J. Abrams movies everything is tight lipped.
