Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius
The movie is based upon the comic book by Mark Millar, and depicts a veteran secret agent who leads a young protege into the world of espionage. This is the second film directed by Matthew Vaughn based on source material by Mark Millar. The first was the movie “Kick-Ass” back in 2010.
The weapons and gadgets seen in the film include exploding silicon microchips, remote-activated poison pens, double-barrelled hand-pistols, bullet-proof designer-fashion suits, a 50,000 volt electrified sovereign ring, augmented virtual reality spectacles, a bulletproof AR targeting system ammunition-firing black designer umbrella, super-spy smart watches which can fire sleep darts and magnetized bolas, artificial razor-blaze sharp silver-metal legs of female acrobat Gazelle, and shoes with poisoned neurotoxin pop-out blades reminiscent of those seen in the James Bond film from 1963 “From Russia with Love”.
The director, Matthew Vaughn said his interpretation of the “Kingsman” should be looked at like Steven Spielberg looked at “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, by taking the movie genre he grew up watching as a kid and reinterpreting it in a fresh modern way.
According to the movie studio and filmmakers they hope the “Kingsman” will be the first film in a series of franchise movies. From what I’ve seen based on the trailer it might have a chance of at least getting a second film made, then we will see about the chances of franchise status.
