The unofficial start of the summer movie season seems to be kicking off this year in March and on Monday; Warner Brothers released their newest trailer for Guy Ritchie’s latest movie.
When King Arthur: Legend of the Sword hits theaters in May, it will be a gritty retelling of the classic tale that will serve as an origin story.
This new trailer features a song you wouldn’t think would be the wisest of choices, but in some weird way Ritchie makes it work. Ritchie seems to be going for a look and or style with King Arthur that reminds me a little of the two Sherlock Holmes movies he directed that stared Robert Downey Jr.
At one time I read where Warner Brothers was hoping “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” would be the first movie in a possible six part franchise. I’ve not read or heard any more about such a plan, but knowing how much there DCEU seems to be having issues I wouldn’t be surprised if Warner Brothers have decided to step back and take a wait and see attitude and see how the movie performs first.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword opens in theaters on May 12, 2017.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword Official Synopsis
Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne.
When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.
