The Tick

Amazon on Wednesday released the first official trailer for the premier of The Tick, based on the character created by Ben Edlund.

The Tick was one of the first superhero parodies featuring an insect with muscles along with his sidekick, mopey Arthur. When the show debuts on Amazon it will be the show’s third incarnation. The first in the 1990’s as an animated series that ran for three seasons and then as a live action series in 2001 that starred Patrick Warbuton.

Warburton’s Tick was canceled in its first season, but is now considered somewhat as a cult classic as it were for television.

Ben Edlund who created the character is writing all ten episodes and Wally Pfister who served as Christopher Nolan’s cinematographer is directing.

The Tick‘s first season will be released in two parts, with the first six episodes becoming available on Amazon starting August 25th, while the second part in 2018.

Reggie’s Take:
Personally I’ve never seen a single episode of the animated version of the Tick or Warburton’s live action take of the character. I watched this newest trailer and I did find it amusing, but nothing to cause me to laugh out loud.

I may give the show a view when it debuts, but it will be with low expectations. I say that not because I think the show doesn’t look good, it could be great, but I’m not that familiar with the character.

Cast: Peter Serafinowicz, Griffin Newman, Jackie Earle Haley, Valorie Curry, Yara Martinez, Brendan Hines
