If you are a fan of Disney XD’s animated Star Wars Rebels then you’re fully aware that the final season premieres on Monday and that has to excite you.
Besides being a huge fan of the movies I have loved watching Rebels since it first premiered and have grown attached to our heroes and as excited as I am to see how they bring the series to a close, it also feels a little bitter sweet.
Obviously with this being the final season we will find out what happens to Kanan and Ezra, but the one character I’m extremely curious about is how they deal with Grand Admiral Thrawn.
In the early 90’s I read Timothy Zahn’s Heir to the Empire trilogy and loved all three books. At the time those books were the first new stories in the Star Wars universe since Return of the Jedi and for me they were like gold. I have this uneasy feeling that Thrawn will meet his demise by the time Rebels final curtain comes to a close.
If he does I will obviously have to live with it, but I would love it if they were able to find away for Thrawn to survive so he could return at some future date. I realize this sounds selfish, but after Darth Vader and Han Solo, Thrawn is my third favorite character in the Star Wars universe and I would hate to see his official story come to a close so soon.
Star Wars Rebels fourth and final season gets underway on Monday, October 16th. Disney XD will air the two-part, one-hour premiere episode “Heroes of Mandalore: Parts One and Two” throughout the day beginning at 12:30am, 3:00am, 7:30am, 5:30pm and 9pm EDT.
Heroes of Mandalore Synopsis:
Sabine (Tiya Sircar) leads Ezra (Taylor Gray), Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and an army of her fellow Mandalorians back to her home world to rescue her father from the clutches of the Empire. When she discovers the Empire has resurrected a devastating weapon, she must decide whether to destroy it or use it herself.
