Netflix has released its first full trailer for there Lost In Space reboot, giving us a better look at the anticipated new sci-fi series.
Netflix’s new sci-fi series, Lost In Space is a new look/take on the old 1960’s television series of the same name. This incarnation is set 30 years in the future, where space colonization is now a reality and the Robinson family have become one of the few selected to create a better life on a new world.
Just like the television series of the 1960’s the Robinsons are thrown off course on the way to their new home and must endure dangerous alien life all while trying to survive and cope as a family.
The original Lost In Space starred Guy Williams and June Lockhart and began airing in 1965 and ran until 1968 for 83 episodes. The show itself was moderately successful, but was unexpectedly cancelled in 1968. The cast found out about the shows cancellation via a small write-up in Variety Magazine.
In 1998 New Line Cinema attempted a movie of Lost In Space that starred Gary Oldman, William Hurt and Matt LeBlanc it received negative reviews and under preformed at the box office.
If I’m totally honest, when I heard that Netflix was going to reboot Lost In Space I really didn’t care or give a rats ass. I was never a huge fan of the 1960’s television show and hated the 1998 movie even worse.
(Side note, you won’t be seeing the 1998 Lost in Space movie as one of the movies we here at Reggie’s Take will look back on, even though it is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.)
But after watching the full length trailer released by Netflix on Tuesday I am considering giving this version of Lost In Space a look see when it debuts in April. I can’t promise I will watch all ten episodes, but I will check out the first couple of episodes and if I find myself enjoying the show more than expected then there is always a chance.
I’ve always been a big sci-fi fan ever since I was kid and Lost in Space has never been on my list of favorites, This reboot coming to Netflix looks to have promise, but my expectations will remain low, at least for now.
Lost in Space all 10 episodes of the first season will debut on Netflix on April 13th.
Cast: Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Parker Posey, Ignacio Serricchio, Taylor Russell, Mina Sundwall, Maxwell Jenkins, Raza Jaffrey
